This Wrinkle Recovery Tester (Winkle tester) is used to determine the appearance of textile fabrics after induced wrinkling.
Application:
The Wrinkle Recovery Tester is designed to assess the appearance of textile fabrics after they have been intentionally wrinkled. This device is suitable for both woven and knitted fabrics, regardless of the fiber type or fiber mixture. It is especially useful for evaluating materials that are prone to instability, such as limp, thick, or curl-prone textiles, by measuring their resistance to wrinkles. Additionally, a set of 5″x3″ dimensional plastic replicas is available upon request, allowing for grading of test samples on a scale of 1 to 5. This ensures a reliable and standardized evaluation of fabric wrinkle recovery.
Working principle:
Under standard atmospheric conditions, a predetermined pressure is applied to the specimen with a standard crumpling device and maintained for a specified time. Then re-humidify the sample under standard atmospheric conditions, compare the sample with the reference sample, and evaluate the appearance of the sample.
Standards:
AATCC 128, ISO 9867, ENKA 3061
Main feature:
1. The base with brackets, the circular steel plate fixed on the base is matched with the movable steel plate at the upper end, and the movable flange is equipped with locking pins;
2. 4 standard weights, respectively 2000g, 1000g, 500kg, 200kg;
3. Provide a full set of 5 inch x 3 inch plastic plates for easy rating (grade 1-5).
Experimental procedure:
1. Use the sample pressing device first, and test three samples continuously, with an interval of about 1min;
2. Fold the sample face to face, and clamp the edge of the fabric with a clip, no more than 5mm from the edge of the fabric;
3. In some cases, the surface of the sample will stick together. A piece of paper or aluminum foil should be used, with a size of 18x14mm. Be careful not to touch the sample with your hands;
4. Place the folded sample between the two pressing blocks, apply the weight immediately, turn on the timing device, wait for 60+2 seconds, and prepare the next sample according to 2, 3, and 4;
After 5.5 minutes, remove the first weight quickly and slightly. Use clips to transfer the folded sample to the sample holder of the measuring instrument;
6. Remove the paper or aluminum foil, put one side of the sample into the sample holder, and the other side hangs freely. After 60+2 seconds, put the second and third pieces into the sample holder;
7. Adjust the instrument so that the hanging end of the sample is consistent with the vertical mark of the instrument, and should be continuously adjusted within 5 minutes (making the hanging end of the sample consistent with the vertical mark of the instrument) to avoid the influence of gravity;
After 8.5 minutes, record the return angle of the sample. If the sagging end is slightly curled or twisted, take the vertical plane passing through the center of the sagging end and the axis of the dial as the benchmark for the crease return angle reading;
9. Repeat the above steps to make three more samples folded on the back and folded on the front and back in the weft direction (12 pieces in total).
The wrinkle recovery performance tester and load device can detect the wrinkle recovery of the fabric. According to specific test methods (BS, ISO, AATCC), the fabric is pressed under a certain load device for a certain period of time, and then the fabric is released and transferred to the test. Sample clips to allow the fabric to recover freely and record the wrinkle recovery angle.
