Application:

The Rotary Crockmeter is used to evaluate the degree of material damage and surface color transfer after dry or wet abrasion or to determine the color fastness of textiles to dry or wet rubbing. It is mainly applied to shoe upper materials such as leather, plastic, and textile. It can also be used to evaluate the fastness to rubbing of printed lettering on the surface of shoes. The test principle involves using a round wool felt (dry or wet) pressed against the sample with a fixed weight, and the wool felt rotates to rub the sample. After a set number of rubbings, the degree of discoloration of the sample is evaluated using a standard gray scale. This instrument ensures precise testing with consistent pressure and allows for both dry and wet conditions to simulate real-world scenarios, providing reliable results for manufacturers and quality control teams. Testing Procedure for Rotary Crock Meter XD-C08

Dry Abrasion Color Fastness Test:

1. Preparation: Install a piece of wool felt on the test bench and fix it in place.

2. Sample Setup: Cut a piece of standard white cotton cloth for the test. Place a circular fitting on the wool felt, then place the test cloth (the sample) on top of it. Adjust the position to ensure the friction head contacts the area of the sample to be rubbed.

3. Weight Installation: Install a weight on the upper end of the instrument to apply 1143g of pressure to the sample.

4. Start Test: Turn on the power, set the speed and time on the display, and press the start button. The wool felt and sample will begin alternating clockwise and counterclockwise rubbing.

5. Stop Test: Once the set time is reached, the instrument stops, remove the weights, and take out the sample and wool felt for testing. Evaluate the degree of color transfer on the wool felt.

6. Evaluation: Place the tested wool felt on three layers of white cotton cloth. The color fastness of the sample is assessed using AATCC color cards or gray scale cards.

Wet Abrasion Color Fastness Test:

1. Wetting the Sample: Wet the sample using distilled water and pass it between filter papers through a squeezer or remove excess water by any other means.

2. Test Procedure: Follow the same procedure as the dry abrasion test.

3. Drying the Sample: After the wet abrasion test, allow the sample to air dry naturally before evaluating its color fastness.

Recording:

Record that the degree of color transfer at the rounded edges may be more severe than at the center of the circle.
Evaluate the degree of color transfer at the rounded edges.
Classify results from the wet and dry tests separately.
Note whether the wet or dry test was performed.
Indicate whether gray or colored cards were used for the evaluation.
